Beschreibung

The exhibition "The Artist and His Self" is not concerned with the so-called "selfie" that anyone can take within seconds, nor with classical portraits.

On display are exclusively self-portraits of established artists from the rich photo collection of the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, which abstract the artist's body. Photographs by Joseph Beuys, Bernhard Blume, Marcel Broodthaers, John Coplans, VALIE EXPORT, Robert Filliou, Camill Leberer, Friederike Pezold, Arnulf Rainer, Klaus Rinke, and Timm Ulrichs are shown together in this small collection presentation.

About 20 color and black-and-white photographs - self-portraits, self-portrayals, and self-stagings - present the "artist and his ego".
