The Great State Exhibition 2014 pays tribute to the multifaceted work of the Stuttgart Bauhaus artist, which encompasses all variants of painting as well as sculpture and stage art. For around 40 years, Schlemmer's works, which are unique in their incomparable range and depth of thought, have not been seen so comprehensively in Germany. In addition to numerous paintings, sculptures, graphic works and original costumes, previously unpublished documents will also convey Schlemmer's artistic vision. Schlemmer's concept of man as the "measure of all things" was unique in his time at the Bauhaus. He attributed to art the power to bring about the creation of a new world.
