Our library is open to the public free of charge and contains an inventory of approximately 120,000 media.

Here you will find detailed information on art and the various collection areas of our museum. Focal points are Classical Modern art, Early German and Italian painting, as well as contemporary art and all genres in the field of graphic art. As this library is purely a reference library, it is not possible to borrow any of the media. Copies or scans can be made subject to the applicable copyright regulations.

The library offers artist monographs, œuvre and inventory catalogues, reference works, approx. 100 serial magazines, and auction catalogues. You will also find national and international exhibition catalogues.

All new additions to the library since 1999 are registered in a database and can be researched online. Earlier acquisitions can be researched in the library's card catalogue.

Your first visit

Before your first visit, please submit a non-binding application using the form provided. You are welcome to carry out research beforehand in our digital library catalogue. On the day of your visit, we will meet you at the entrance and introduce you to the use of the library. The desired literature will be brought to you at a reading table.
