Library

Our library is open to the public free of charge and contains an inventory of approximately 120,000 media.

Here you will find detailed information on art and the various collection areas of our museum. Focal points are Classical Modern art, Early German and Italian painting, as well as contemporary art and all genres in the field of graphic art. As this library is purely a reference library, it is not possible to borrow any of the media. Copies or scans can be made subject to the applicable copyright regulations.

The library offers artist monographs, œuvre and inventory catalogues, reference works, approx. 100 serial magazines, and auction catalogues. You will also find national and international exhibition catalogues. 

Bestand

Es stehen Ihnen Künstlermonographien, Werk- und Bestandverzeichnisse, Nachschlagewerke sowie ca. 100 fortlaufende Zeitschriften und Auktionskataloge zur Verfügung. Ebenso finden Sie nationale und internationale Ausstellungskataloge.

 

Archiv Stauffer

Die Sammlung der Staatsgalerie umfasst seit 1993 auch das Archiv des Schweizer Künstlers und Duchamp-Forschers Serge Stauffer. Zu diesem Archiv zählt auch eine umfangreiche Bibliothek, die 593 Publikationen zum Leben und Werk Duchamps umfasst.

Bitte beachten Sie, dass es sich bei unserer Bibliothek um eine Präsenzbibliothek handelt. Ausleihen sind deshalb leider nicht möglich. Im Rahmen der gültigen Copyright-Bestimmungen können aber sehr gerne Kopien oder Scans angefertigt werden.

Bibliothekskatalog

Alle Bibliothekszugänge seit 1999 sind in einer Datenbank erfasst und können schon vor Ihrem Besuch online recherchiert werden. Frühere Zugänge können Sie vor Ort im Kartenkatalog recherchieren. An einer retrospektiven Erfassung des Kartenkatalogs wird derzeit gearbeitet.

On the day of your visit, we will meet you at the entrance and introduce you to the use of the library. The desired literature will be brought to you at a reading table.
