Abundance. Sounding Paper by Clemens Schneider

The Stuttgart-based artist Clemens Schneider and his artwork engage with throwaway society. Along with a self-developed process and homemade devices built from recycled materials, the artist creates paper from old jeans and t-shirts

We were able to acquire the more than 50 metres long work "Abundance" for our graphical collection, which concentrates on the process of papermaking and deals with current social issues. What makes it special: Along with the textile waste produced paper mediative sounds are created, whose acoustic signals are transmitted to the paper built-in contact microphones which are connected as sound transducers. The work transforms garbage and noise into art and encourages us for once not to think of recycling as a moral necessity, but to look at it as a creative process.
