Out of the academy – and already in the museum: In the second edition the exhibition “A–Z. Mapping the Future” presents recent final projects by this year’s graduates of the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart. The idea for this exhibition series emerged from the Academy’s desire to offer young artistic positions a visible platform within the city, while also fostering a contemporary dialogue between the museum and the art school.
The title “A–Z” is to be understood as a conceptual statement: the works are displayed in alphabetical order according to the artists’ last names – a deliberately neutral curatorial structure that places artistic diversity at the center. The works on view stem from various academic programs: the Diploma in Fine Arts, the Master of Education in Art Education, and the M.F.A. in Body, Theory and Poetics of the Performative.
The exhibition demonstrates how confidently and individually this new generation of artists expresses itself. “Mapping the Future” brings diversity into the museum space, making it unmistakably clear: for many of the participating artists, the future has already begun.
