in THE GÄLLERY – Raum für Fotografie
This summer, THE GÄLLERY will host a juried exhibition as part of Fotosommer Stuttgart for a second time. This year’s theme is DISORDER, meaning a state of disorientation in which we have to recalibrate and find our bearings. When an existing order loses its validity, there is not only a loss of stability but also a gain of unexpected perspectives. The exhibition presents works by 23 artists who explore various dimensions of the theme through photography. In these works, disorder does not always manifest as a visible phenomenon but is sometimes hidden beneath a strictly organized surface. Photography can both capture states of obvious disorder in images and make subtle forms of disorder perceptible.
Featuring works by Evi Blink, Eckart Bartnik, Sabine Bungert & Stefan Dolfen, Martin Eberle, Jonas Glanz & Leon Adam Haas, Gosbert Gottmann, Celia Joy Homann, Martin Janczek, Markus Kaesler, Barbara Karsch-Chaïeb, Matthias Kleinen, OA Krimmel, Leonie Lass, Anna Lehrer, Marcel Mayer, Ann-Kathrin Müller, Eva Schmeckenbecher, Valerie Schmidt, Susanne Wegner, Valentin Wormbs, and Wolfgang Zurborn.
This exhibition represents the prominent centerpiece of the wide-ranging Fotosommer program. During the festival’s main run from July 18 to July 26, numerous galleries in Stuttgart will host exhibitions and events on the theme of disorder.
