Art Dealer of the Avant-Garde

In an exhibition project being realized jointly with fourteen other museums in Germany and Switzerland, the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart is showing works from its collection whose provenance can be retraced to Alfred Flechtheim (1878–1937). The presentation comprises altogether seven works from the former holdings of the Jewish art dealer and collector: two paintings by Paul Klee, one painting each by Willi Baumeister, Juan Gris and Maurice de Vlaminck, and two sculptures by Ernst Barlach.

The database generated website  www.alfredflechtheim.comprovides background information on the more than 300 works, as well as relevant information on their provenance, a bibliography and description of the works.
